Does it pass David Gardner’s “snap” test? * Very few projects pass this test. Synergy land does not pass either. Only their current fanbase would prob care or notice if this game vanished tomorrow.

Description: Synergy Land is a blockchain multiplayer action RPG game currently in development by Synergy Games, set in a fantasy world divided into four ecosystems, each based on the following elements: earth, water, fire and ice. (edited)

  1. Funding 5/5: Their seed sale and private sale are completed. Team has confirmed they have enough to hire more people regardless of mint and looks like they have plenty of funding, although unclear how much in total they received.
  2. Understanding their Community: 3/5 After they released the medium article with mint details, they posted a google form shortly after, asking for community feedback on NFT perks. One option was reducing mint from 2.0 to 1.5 sol. On one hand, this may reflect a lack of understanding what their community wants. On the other hand, the fact they’re seeking feedback to adjust can be viewed as a sign they’re genuinely trying to better connect with their community. I’m prob a bit harsh here but overall, I’d say this is neutral.
  3. Team: 3/5 Currently 82% of the team is either an artist or animator. They have some experience using Unreal engine for game dev (idk game dev so idk if this is good or bad). Marketing expert has background in fashion & events so unclear how well this translates to games/blockchain. There’s only 1 programmer and will likely need to hire a game designer. But they did confirm they have funding to hire more, even without the mint proceeds, which is great and aligns with their funding from seed/private investors.
  4. Taking advantage of Blockchain? 4/5 Yes. They recognize that players own a part of the economy and plan to incorporate things like passive income by owning boss NFTs, islands with land tax, in-game marketplace. A successful economy design is yet to be seen (2 token model) and they might need to hire a tokenomics expert? One unique advantage that they have is the co-op aspect, which aligns well with the importance of community in successful crypto projects. I can see a lot of friends being made in their game.
  5. Summary 3.75 / 5

PROs: They recognize the value of play-owned economies and are not gonna take that away from players. They’re also building a 4-player cooperative game, which may lead to a strong tight knit community if players find the game fun.

CONs: Need to hire a game designer & tokenomics expert to ensure balance. Gameplay and blockchain elements are pretty standard, which shows that team is trying to play it safe rather than take risks on big innovations. The downside is they may have lots of competition with all the other blockchain games out there.

Overall: The team has a solid gameplay trailer and sees the value of blockchain in gaming. Marketing is good enough, based on discord/twitter numbers…perhaps due to a slight mismatch of fashion background from the marketing team member. The game studio has been around 8 months, so it started during the uptick of Solana NFT projects and still too early to distinguish between long term commitment vs “following the trend”. As long as the team can ensure they hire a solid game designer and deliver long term (> 1 year), this has potential to become a fun game.

Cubist Collective Predictions (just for fun, not financial advice): My prediction is after 1 year this game will be above mint price. Price will also be above mint 14 hours afterwards, but will experience big dip below mint 1 week after mint, which lasts for a few months. The dip will be largely driven by the current bullish NFT market with people trading in and out of projects.
